About FTU Ha Noi

Foreign Trade University (FTU), located in Hanoi, Vietnam, is some of the most well-renowned universities in Vietnam for business courses such as finance, management, and marketing. Notably, students from FTU are recognized as being active and well-qualified. As postgraduate students, we have had first-hand experience on the institution’s academic values and strategic vision that shape its identity and drive its aspirations, leading to its social service, academic innovation, and global competitiveness. The heart of FTU lies in its mission: to serve society through excellence in education, creativity and knowledge transfer.

The scope of its vision aligns with such a mission - becoming a leading innovative university ranked among the top institutions in Asia. FTU’s core values provide a solid foundation for the direction in fulfilling these missions and visions. These include:

  • Innovation and excellence: Encouraging a mindset of creativity and continuous improvement.

  • Accountability and resilience: Promoting responsibility in action and the courage to face challenges.

Diversity and inclusion: Embracing differences and fostering a harmonious academic community. These values are encapsulated in FTU’s motto, “The Best First,” which inspires both faculty and students to strive for leadership and distinction in their respective fields. Education at FTU is also defined by a philosophy: education for liberation, closely connected to real-world practice. This philosophy ensures that learning is not just theoretical but also aligned with practical, societal needs.

About Faculty of English for Specific Purposes

Throughout the practicum, we have had the opportunities to observe how the Faculty of English for Specific Purposes truly embodies FTU’s core values. The faculty has continually advanced its teaching quality to meet the evolving needs of the university and society. To do so, they have partnered with global publishers to provide students with high-quality textbooks, supporting the development of Blended Learning. Another indicator of education development lies in its early adoption of computer-based assessments for various English proficiency tests. The number of Ministry- and university-level research projects has steadily increased, and the Faculty has produced dozens of textbooks and reference materials, enriching academic resources and supporting knowledge transfer. The faculty fosters diversity and inclusion by offering English instruction to non-English major students across various programs—including high-quality, second-degree, and online formats—ensuring equitable access to essential language skills. Within and beyond the practicum, our group is empowered by these guiding values, and inspired to contribute to a brighter, more inclusive, and forward-thinking future as educators.
